Out with the Old Glory-In with the New

Ory had a special moment this morning. We were laying under the trees at our favorite park and a man drove up and began to pull down the American flag that stands watch over the playground. He was struggling a little, so Oren and I went to help out. We held the frayed edges while the man lowered Old Glory, careful not to let it touch the ground. Then he ran a new flag up the pole, and Oren seemed fascinated by its bright, contrasting colors. Tomorrow, Oren will see his first fireworks show, and celebrate his first Independence Day. It seems as though every day he has a 'first'. The challenge, I think, as we become adults, is to remain childlike and curious-to find new experiences to marvel at and learn from. We allow things to become redundant and boring without noticing that there is still much to be learned and experienced. So, while I'm blathering about finding new ways to be inspired, how about a few quotes to help you see the world with Oren's childlike curiosity.
